Awards Entry
The New Zealand Jewellery Show Design Awards celebrate excellence in both fine and contemporary jewellery and form the two categories in the 2011 awards.
The New Zealand Jewellery Show Design Awards will be judged in June 2011. Winners will be announced at The New Zealand Jewellery Show Design Awards and Gala Preview on Thursday 8 September 2011.
There are two categories of Awards – Fine Jewellery and Contemporary Jewellery. The winner in each of the two Awards categories receives a prize to the value of $2,500. There are three highly commended certificates awarded by the judges in each of the two categories, and all finalists will receive one complimentary ticket to the Designers’ Drinks Hour and Gala Preview. The finalists' works will be photographed to promote The New Zealand Jewellery Show through the use of posters and other media. All finalists' entries will be displayed in a separate area at The New Zealand Jewellery Show and will be for sale. 20% comission will be payable on these pieces. Note if the subsequent sale of a piece after the event is assisted by display in the awards commission is still payable. Remaining entries will be displayed subject to space available and will be subject to same conditions.

Judging takes place. Finalists' works are photographed to promote The New Zealand Jewellery Show. Non finalists’ work submitted by exhibitors will be returned but must be brought to the show Non-exhibitors work will be stored in a secure location until the event when all entries go on display and sale. |

Criteria for judging
The New Zealand Jewellery Show Design Awards are open to all New Zealand jewellery designers. Only work of the highest standards shall be accepted by the judges.
Fine Jewellery
A piece or set of jewellery must be accompanied by the retail value. Marks that distinguish the maker must be concealed before the work is submitted.
Judges will place emphasis on the following aspects:
- Concept (30%)
- Challenge (5%)
- Manufacture and Construction (60%)
- Customer Value (5%).
A judging form outlining the criteria will be emailed to all entrants.
Contemporary Jewellery
Judges of the contemporary awards will be looking for the highest standard of workmanship. They will be particularly interested in work that is conceptually driven and which demonstrates an innovative use of materials.
