Claudia Jaffe
Venezuelan-born jewellery artist Claudia Jaffe's creations are inspired by the rugged beauty of the New Zealand coastline. Before coming to New Zealand, five years ago, Jaffe worked for fine jewellers in London, such as Chanel.
Inspiring and fresh, Claudia’s style has evolved from her observation of the spirit and energy of the natural world. Learning about the cultural significance of the greenstone to the Māori people, and the similarities with her own feelings for the Amazon of Venezuela, she was immediately attracted to these shores. Full of rugged coastlines, pure colours and places to use her own adrenalin, Claudia’s design style has evolved with the landscapes of New Zealand. Jaffe is a master of materials, sculpting with bronze in Mexico and then with the famous Cartier designs and gems in London.
Now living in New Zealand she is utilising all her skills by moving into exciting design ventures such as Silver and Gold organic designed jewellery. You wont find a flat piece in her whole collection: everything looks alive and moving and because of this plasticity of her designs, everything 'fits like a glove'.
In last years New Zealand Fashion Week 2009 one of her collections was part of the Sable and Minx show and complemented the flowing shades of violet and green silks perfectly.
Claudia is passionate about everything she touches. She channels her vivacious Latino energy, inherent love for beautiful things and the inspiration from the beauty of the New Zealand environment to create stunning hand-crafted works.
